Homework Policy
Homework plays at a vital role in supporting students' learning beyond the classroom. It provides opportunities to reinforce key concepts, develop independent study skills, and prepare for assessments, which also encouraging responsibility and time management.
Homework is set regularly in all subjects, with clear expectations for completion. In the core subjects, students will receive one piece of homework each week. These tasks will be designed to take approximately 30 minutes to complete and will consolidate classroom learning.
Core Subjects (set weekly):
- English
- Maths
- Science
For foundation subjects, homework will be set on a two-week rotation, ensuring a balanced and manageable workload. Each subject will set one piece of homework per fortnight, expected to take around 20 to 30 minutes.
For all Year 10 and Year 11 students, homework will be set weekly for each of their four option subjects. These tasks are also designed to take approximately 30 minutes.

Week B:
- Geography
- Music
- Physical Education
- Drama
All homework will be set and tracked used Go4Schools, where students and parent can view deadlines and monitor progress. Homework will be completed using Seneca Learning, an interactive, curriculum-aligned platform that supports revision and independent learning.
For every homework task completed, students will receive homework house points, equivalent of three 'Curiosity' reward points, recognising their effort and commitment to learning beyond the classroom.
Students are expected to complete all homework tasks to the best of their ability by the given deadline. If they encounter any difficulties, they should speak to their subject teacher in advance of the deadline date for help or clarification. Teachers will offer guidance and feedback to support improvement, and follow-up tasks may be assigned as needed.
To help all students success, ICT1 is open during lunchtime for homework support. This space provides access to computers and a quiet environment for students who need additional time, or digital access to complete their work.
By working in partnership with students and families, we aim for homework to be a positive and productive part of every learners' experience, helping them build the skills and habits needed for long-term success.
