Student Leadership

Student leadership plays an important role in building confidence, responsibility, and teamwork among young people. Students who take on leadership roles, such as prefects, class representatives, team captains, or club leaders, learn how to communicate effectively, solve problems, and support others. These experiences help them develop valuable life skills that prepare them for future education and careers. Student leaders also contribute to creating a positive school environment by encouraging cooperation, organising activities, and acting as role models for their peers. .

Sport Leaders

Sports Leadership provides students with the opportunity to develop confidence, responsibility and teamwork through sport and physical activity.

Sports Leaders are selected based on their enthusiasm, commitment and ability to lead by example throughout previous years, as well as their participation and involvement in extracurricular activities. They support and help organise and run sporting events, assist younger pupils and promote participation and enjoyment in sport across the school. Through the role, students build valuable leadership and communication skills while making a positive contribution to the school community.

Student Leadership

A strong Student Leadership Team plays a vital role in creating a positive and successful secondary school community. By giving students the opportunity to represent their peers, organise events and contribute to school improvement, leadership helps young people develop confidence, responsibility and communication skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Each member of the student leadership team applies for the position they wish to hold, whether it is a written application, a speech in front of peers or an interview for the more senior roles, this process encourages students to step outside of their comfort zones, building confidence, self esteem and resilience.

An effective Student Leadership Team also brings a school’s values to life each day.

Through Kindness, student leaders promote inclusion, support younger pupils and help create a welcoming environment where everyone feels respected.

Through Curiosity, they encourage new ideas, listen to different perspectives and help drive positive change within the school community.

Through Courage, they act as role models by standing up for what is right, taking initiative and facing challenges with resilience and integrity. Together, these qualities help build a school culture where students feel empowered to lead, inspire others and make a meaningful difference.
